Quito 16.jpg

Small cupolas separate the rooftops of la Catedral, formally known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Quito, and Iglesia El Sagrario. The tile work is done in a Mudejar style and is characteristic of many of Quito's historic church domes. The Old Town of Quito was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1978 because it is one of the largest, least-altered and best preserved historic centers in the Americas.
